Man reportedly pointed gun at CU students in Boulder parking lot

Boulder police are seeking information about a man who reportedly pointed a gun at three University of Colorado Boulder students Tuesday night in the parking lot of a Halloween store.

The felony menacing incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. when the students were walking through the parking lot of Spirit Halloween Store, 2798 Arapahoe Ave., according to a Boulder Police Department news release. The men had just purchased clown masks at the store and one was wearing his mask. A man shined a very bright light flashlight in their faces and then pointed and cocked a gun at them and said, “Watch out with that (expletive),” according to the release.

The victims ran off and the suspect got in a white Chevy Avalanche that was parked in the lot. The suspect is described as a heavy-set male with a grey and white beard.

The CU students recently arrived in the United States and did not know what to do after the crime occurred, according to the release. The day after the menacing indicent, they contacted the International English Center at CU. After getting the details, the center immediately notified Boulder police.

Boulder police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 303-441-3330. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous can call Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 800-222- 8477. Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at crimeshurt.com. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000, the release stated.
