Remember that University of Colorado Boulder parking ticket crumpled up in your cup holder or hiding in the depths of your glove box?

CU Boulder’s Parking Services will waive the citation this week with a donation of at least five non-perishable food items.

Citations must have been issued before Nov. 1 and cannot be in collections, attached to a tuition bill, or be for more than $50. Citations issued for booted vehicles, illegally parking in a disabled parking spot or for violations of fire lane restrictions also are not eligible for the program.

The Food for Fines donation table is in the west entrance of the Parking Services’ lobby, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday.

Free 15-minute parking is available for those making donations in lot 440, south of Parking Services.

The food drive benefits Harvest of Hope Pantry in Boulder, which provides supplemental food to city residents in need of food assistance.

Items most needed include peanut butter, canned chicken or tuna, whole-grain cereals, chili with beans, canned beans, carrots, corn, peas, fruit, chunky style soups and regular or travel-size hygiene products.
