Cheba Hut leaders have no plans to reopen a restaurant in Boulder, a company spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The cannabis-themed sandwich shop on the Hill shuttered with no notice on Saturday night, a store employee told the Camera.

“We chose not to re-sign another five-year lease because we’d outgrown the space and it no longer fit our needs, especially considering our new locations are some 35% larger,” spokeswoman Madeline Lena wrote in an email Tuesday.

Lena added that the shop’s employees had a chance to transfer to other locations.

The store at 1313 College Ave. was plastered with brown paper on Monday and had a sign posted thanking customers for 15 years of support.

“We love Boulder and hope to be back at some point soon,” Lena said.
