Rocky Mountain National Park fire managers have noted the benefits of previous pile burning operations within the park in fighting wildfires.
PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) fire managers will burn piles west of Bear Lake Road near the Trail Ridge Road junction today, weather permitting, according to an official with the park.

Kyle Patterson, RMNP public affairs officer, said Wednesday that crews will only burn piles if “weather, smoke dispersion and other factors all remain favorable.”

Patterson said smoke and flames will be visible for several days after the fires are ignited.

It’s not likely that traffic will be delayed due to this operation, Patterson said.
