The Boulder Fire Department is investigating a lab fire that started Tuesday night on the University of Colorado Boulder campus.
According to Scott Pribble, a spokesperson for CU Boulder police, firefighters responded to the Ekeley Science building for a “small” lab fire just before 7 p.m. Pribble said firefighters were swiftly able to douse the blaze and any damages were limited to the one room. The extent and cost of the fire was not yet known.
The science building was open at the time of the fire. Pribble said smoke alarms activated and all students were able to safely evacuate. No one was injured during the incident.
Pribble said the building was closed Tuesday night as authorities continued their investigation. The building is expected to re-open Wednesday. He said he doesn’t expect the incident to disrupt classroom schedules for the rest of the week.
