From a romantic film screening to an anti-Valentine's Day bash, Friday features fun for everyone

Whether you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day or recoil at the very thought of elaborate bouquets and chalky candy hearts, Boulder has some holiday offerings in store that will have lovers and haters alike pondering a venture out into the abyss of this Hallmark holiday.

From blush-inducing burlesque shows to a day on the farm cuddling animals, whether you find yourself single or in a thriving relationship, consider this list a gateway to the unexpected. You could end up on the dance floor, in a scavenger hunt or with a paintbrush in hand.

Valentine’s Day Dance Party — This late-night escapade is curated for both couples and singles. There will be music by Double Crush, aerial performances by Fractal Tribe and small bite confectionery treats; 10:30 p.m., Rosetta Hall, 1109 Walnut St., Boulder; free; rosettahall.com.

Cocktails & Connections Valentine’s Day Party —  Groove to the sweet sounds of blues, New Orleans and gypsy jazz and swing with a performance by Voodoo Lilly. Anti-Valentine’s Day — The Nuns of Brixton — a Clash tribute band that’s made up of males that rock habits a la “Sister Act” — is keeping things cynical with a night dedicated to hard rock and strong brews. If seeing a group of dudes jam out dressed like Sister Mary Clarence doesn’t get your mind off your last failed relationship, I don’t know what will; 9:30 p.m., Bohemian Biergarten, 2017 13th St., Boulder; bohemianbiergarten.com.

Let This Be A Love Letter — The performers of Boulder Burlesque are unveiling their deepest heartfelt desires and more in this performance that fuses romantic and lusty ink-and-paper sentiments with a fair amount of tease. Enjoy a variety of different acts and live piano playing by Mr. Keys. Puente Fuente Dance Party — Enjoy a sensual party by taking Bachata or heart-racing salsa lessons. Singles and couples are welcome to join in this connection-building dance party. Neruda and Nibbles — Savor a meal and a film about renowned Chilean poet Pablo Neruda at Boulder’s eclectic creek-side venue. The 1994 Italian classic film “II Postino” will be screened in addition to a four-course meal. Salsa Party — Enjoy a night of dancing to the high-energy 11 piece band Quemando Salsa, a group that always brings the heat. If you’re a fan of Gloria Estefan’s Miami Sound Machine, this Boulder band is for you; 6 p.m., St. Julien Hotel & Spa, 900 Walnut St., Boulder; stjulien.com.

Valentine’s Date Night Painting Class — Get creative with a step-by-step painting class, drinks, chocolate and good music. Leave with a masterpiece to hang on your wall; 6:30 p.m., PoshSplat, 2035 Broadway St., Boulder; $35 poshsplat.com.

Attraction: Immersive Virtual Scavenger Hunt — Partake in an alternate reality scavenger hunt where you will indulge in an interactive art museum and immerse yourself in a fantastic mystery.
