U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, D-Lafayette, is holding a virtual town hall Thursday for high school students home from school as a result of COVID-19.

The town hall will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and is open to students within Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.

During the town hall, Neguse will give a short civics lesson and answer questions from the students about COVID-19 and the government. It is expected to include around 200 students learning from home.

Gov. Jared Polis issued an executive order on March 18 closing all schools in the state to in-person learning until April 17, which has since been extended and is expected to last for the rest of the school year. Over a dozen metro-area school districts have already announced they will remain closed the rest of the year.

In the last five weeks, Neguse has held three over-the-phone town halls discussing COVID-19 and the CARES Act with constituents. He has also held two virtual town halls with the Small Business Administration to provide information about loan and grant programs for small business owners.

High school students can RSVP for Thursday’s town hall by emailing townhall.questions@mail.house.gov.
