An Aurora woman injured her ankle Wednesday while hiking on the Mallory Cave Trail west of Boulder.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office in a news release reported the hiker, 56 years old, was hiking with her friend when she slid on gravel which caused her to fall at 12:16 p.m. Wednesday.

Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and rangers from Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks located the woman with help from her friend, and performed first aid, according to the release. Rescue personnel carried the injured hiker to an ambulance, at which point she was taken for further medical treatment by American Medical Response.

The rescue took about one hour and 20 minutes.
