Colorado’s annual Bike to Work Day has been has been pushed back from June to September due to concerns about the coronavirus.
Bike to Work Day was initially scheduled on June 24, but will now take place on Sept. 22, according to a release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
“To maintain the health of riders and of our communities, we believe it’s best to delay Bike to Work day due to the current situation,” said CDOT bicycle, pedestrian, and scenic byways section manager Betsy Jacobsen in a statement. “Although this event celebrates physical fitness, social distancing would be more challenging this year if we have additional people traveling in closer proximity to each other on our bike paths and local streets.”
Registration had not yet opened up for Boulder County’s Bike To Work Day, which typically includes breakfast stations across the county.
