Longmont officials have announced that overnight construction operations will shut down Pike Road at its intersection with South Main Street beginning Thursday.

According to a news release from the city, the intersection will close from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday. The road will be closed in both directions during that period.

“North and southbound travelers on (South) Main Street will not be allowed to turn onto Pike Road. All traffic will need to take alternate routes to locations accessed by east and westbound Pike Road from the intersection,” the release stated.

Construction operations will include relocating the traffic signal pole and mast arm on the southwest corner of the intersection. According to the release, local residents should expect to hear construction noise and flashing lights late Thursday into Friday morning. The work is being done overnight to reduce its impact on traffic and public safety.

“The westbound lane of Pike Road remains open to vehicles,” the release stated. “The eastbound lane of Pike Road from (South) Sunset (Stree) to Kristy Court is expected to remain closed both day and night until late afternoon on Friday, May 22.

“Both lanes of traffic will be open over Memorial Day weekend.”
