A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital after sustaining serious injuries from a mountain bike accident west of Nederland.

The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. The Nederland Fire Department provided initial medical care, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group wheeled the boy in a litter into an open meadow. Flight For Life then transported the boy to the hospital.

The rescue lasted approximately three hours, according to the release.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Flight For Life Colorado, Nederland Fire Protection District and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group assisted in the rescue.
