Boulder County law enforcement officers are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a Superior house early Friday morning.

Crews responded after a Boulder County sheriff’s deputy saw smoke near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Douglas Street at 1:48 a.m. before finding the fully engulfed home in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue.

Firefighters with the Rocky Mountain Fire Protection District, Lafayette Fire Department and the Louisville Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames.

An on-scene investigation found the homeowners were not home and that there were no injuries. However the home was substantially damaged and is a complete loss.

Investigators with the Multi Agency Fire Investigation Team and the sheriff’s office are investigating the cause of the fire.
