The pairings for the first 22-game league schedule in the history of Pac-12 Conference women’s basketball have been set, and on Monday the Colorado Buffaloes also released a localized, three-game nonconference schedule.
Head coach JR Payne will begin her fifth season leading the Buffaloes on Nov. 25 with a home date against Western Colorado. The Buffs also will host Air Force on Nov. 28 and play their lone nonconference road game at the University of Denver on Dec. 8.
Amid a coronavirus pandemic that made basketball scheduling a continuous headache across the nation, the Pac-12 announced in October it would play a 22-game conference schedule this season instead of the typical 18-game slate. While the weekend pairings were released on Monday, specific dates, matchups, and TV information will be released at a later date.
The Pac-12 opens its league schedule the weekend of Dec. 4-7, with the Buffs drawing a difficult road trip out of the gate with a visit to Oregon and Oregon State. CU plays its next five games at home, beginning with a lone game against Utah followed by visits from the Arizona schools and the Washington schools.
The Buffs play six of their final eight games on the road, capping the regular season the weekend of Feb. 26-March 1 with a trip to Utah. The Pac-12 Conference tournament is scheduled for March 4-7 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
“We are extremely excited that season is quickly approaching,” Payne said in a release. “It’s hard to believe that with everything we’ve gone through over the past eight months, games are just days away. This will be an interesting season in many ways and we are excited for it to finally begin.”
