City offices and facilities in Boulder will be closed for part of today and all of Jan. 1.

The half day on Dec. 31 is part of the furlough days announced in June to save money amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release from the city.

Boulder implemented six furlough days that officials estimate will save the city more than $1.8 million.

On holidays recognized by the city, drivers can park for free in city parking garages and parking lots as well as any on-street pay parking areas. Parking is free after 1 p.m. Dec. 31 and all day Jan. 1.
