The city of Boulder will temporarily close a section of the East Boulder-Gunbarrel Trail on Monday because of the installation of fiber optic cables.

From Durham Street and Boulderado Drive to the city water tank on Gunbarrel Hill, the trail will be closed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a news release.

The section will be closed for up to three weeks, and the city of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks encourages community members to visit the trail outside of project work hours.

To expedite the installation project, OSMP requests the public respect the closure time.

The fiber optic cables are a part of the Community Broadband Connectivity project, which intends to improve and expand the city’s internet services.
