Cheryl Patelli is Weld County’s new chief financial officer, effective Nov. 29. She most recently held the same role with Boulder County.

Patelli’s duties in Weld will include the financial basics — “managing and overseeing the day-to-day financial operations for county government,” a press release said — as well as “expanding and developing systems for financial reporting, budgets, cash flows and projection.”
Patelli was also CFO for Kane County, Illinois, from 1996 to 2012. She has 27 years in financial management. Her bachelor’s in accounting is from University of Illinois, Champaign, and MBA from DePaul University in Chicago.
She fills the slot being vacated by Don Warden, who is retiring as Weld’s finance director. He’s managed the county’s finances for 43 years and will stay on through the end of next year.
“Filling (Don’s) shoes is a monumental task, but we are confident Ms. Pattelli will be a great fit with our organization,” said Steve Moreno, Weld County Board of Commissioners chairman.
