The Boulder County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the man killed following a rollover crash on U.S. 36 early Saturday morning as Ernan Loya Loya, 24, of Westminster.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said the state patrol was called to the scene of U.S. 36 at Table Mesa Drive in Boulder at 5:36 a.m. The single-vehicle crash involved a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Loya was declared dead at the scene.

The westbound lanes of U.S. 36 were closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash. Drivers were asked to exit at Foothills Parkway. Boulder police said they reopened westbound lanes on the highway just before 10 a.m.

Lewis said Loya’s Jeep went off the right side of the road on U.S. 36, and he overcorrected causing it to roll. Loya was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. There were no passengers.

CSP is looking at alcohol and marijuana as possible factors in the crash, Lewis said.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has finished its examination. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
